Many self-developed individuals have some form of motivational power within themselves that drives them to achieve big goals in their life, and it is different for each of us. If you find yourself in a situation where staying motivated isn’t possible, it is completely fine, and it’s not something uncommon to assume that.
It’s just one of those things that seem so out of control and arrive at a crucial moment (out of the blue) when we least expect it. In such a situation, the key question would be, “How can one stay motivated even if they are breathing in a difficult time?” In order to understand the statement of ”How”, before that, it is essential to understand the ‘What’ and ‘Why’.
What exactly is motivation and why is it so crucial to have implemented in today’s life?
Motivation basically refers to factors that initiate, direct and sustain goal-directed behaviour. Motivation is that driving force which leads us to do things and/or makes decisions, which lead to the subsequent achievement of our futuristic goals.
It is the act of acting on our ‘motives’ or ‘reasons for doing something’. It is primarily a change in behaviour.”
Why do we lose motivation?
If you’ve ever had a goal or simply a dream, you know that simply desiring it is not enough. You need to align with it and work upon it. Irrespective of what your object of desire may be, it is easy to fall in love with it. When it comes to obtaining it, that’s no walk in the park or in other words we can say, something that isn’t very easy to create or manifest. This is where the motivation and your real intentions, come into the play.
In life, other concepts like a struggle, competition, hindrances come into play. All these things are blows to the mind and your mind doesn’t want to accept it. The mind, which naïvely thought that simply wanting something was enough, starts to realize that many other forces are also acting against it. You are not the only one desiring the outcomes, other souls are also working and acting on their desire.
It looks like we have to pay, in order to get to the objective. Slowly but steadily, your motives begin to shift its initial charm and you lose your focus.
Mind you if you are acting like that or silly because your desire is still very much achievable and there in this reality; but for some inexplicable reason, your drive seems to go missing.
If you recall above, motivation is simply two things, a change in behaviour and the existence of a motive. The moment one or even both these things cease, motivation ceases.
One of the best things you can do for yourself and your goals is to work out what actually drives you. Identify your values as they provide the fuel for your motivation and the drive behind everything you do in your life. If you value something you will always find the motivation and energy to do it. If you don’t value something, you will always struggle to find the motivation and energy to do it. Pretty simple!
Just understand your values, and understand what motivates your life force and why. If you discover yourself whether you are using motivation towards or away from it in different stages of your life, you will have your answers.
Just take action and within no time you will be on your way to success!
